Terms of Service
Last updated: August 24, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Composer (the “Service”), a platform for building and running online stores. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Composer lets you design, publish, and operate a storefront, manage products and orders, and make changes with the help of an AI agent. Features may change over time as the Service evolves.
2. Your account
You must provide an accurate email address and are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. You must be able to form a binding contract and use the Service only in compliance with these Terms and applicable law. Keep your sign-in secure; notify us of any unauthorized use.
3. Your content and your stores
You retain ownership of the content you add to your stores (text, images, product data, and similar). You grant Composer the limited rights needed to host, process, back up, and display that content to operate the Service on your behalf. You are responsible for your stores, including the products you sell, the claims you make, and compliance with the laws that apply to your business and customers.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- break the law or infringe others’ rights, including intellectual-property and privacy rights;
- sell prohibited, unsafe, or fraudulent goods or services;
- upload malware or attempt to disrupt, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the Service;
- abuse the AI agent to generate unlawful, harmful, or deceptive material.
5. Payments
Card payments on a storefront are processed by Stripe. Composer does not collect or store card numbers. By default, checkout runs on Composer’s Stripe account and Composer is the merchant of record for those sales. Funds settle to Stripe’s platform balance. Your Composer wallet is an accounting record of what you have earned; it is not a bank account and is not itself a payout.
You can instead link your own Stripe account (Stripe Connect). While that link is active and able to charge, checkout runs on your connected account, you are the merchant of record for those sales, andComposer may take an application fee disclosed to you before it applies.
When Composer is the merchant of record, you request a withdrawal from your Composer balance to receive funds. Composer does not send money until Stripe has collected identity and payout details for you (Know Your Customer / anti-money-laundering checks) and Stripe reports that the connected account may receive transfers. Stripe is the KYC/AML provider; Composer does not run its own identity program and does not store government ID numbers or ID images. Live withdrawals are paid to a bank account Stripe verifies. A PayPal address saved in Composer is a preference, not the live payout rail.
You remain responsible for your products, fulfillment, customer service, and for collecting and remitting sales tax, VAT, or similar taxes that apply to your sales, except where a tax feature we enable on a checkout session calculates an amount at payment. Refunds and chargebacks on platform-rail sales are processed against the platform Stripe balance and are deducted from your Composer wallet. You must not use the Service to sell goods or services Stripe or these Terms prohibit.
These payment terms describe how the product works. They are not a legal opinion that this structure satisfies money-transmitter, tax, or consumer-protection law in every jurisdiction. Have counsel review them before you rely on them.
Any subscription or platform fees Composer charges for the Service will be disclosed to you before they apply.
6. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers for hosting, payments, email, and AI. Your use of the Service may be subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.
7. Intellectual property
The Service itself, including its software and branding, is owned by Composer and its licensors. These Terms grant you no rights in it except the right to use the Service as permitted here.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; some provisions (such as ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) survive.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated output will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose. Review AI-assisted changes before publishing them.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Composer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
